The Apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Technician Apprentice to support the manufacture and test of our innovative world-class products. You will be working within a structured training scheme designed to provide you with all the knowledge and skills required, enabling you to manufacture/test complex world-leading products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment at our Basildon site.

What you’ll do as a Manufacturing Technician Apprentice:

  • You will learn on the job core technician skills, complemented by problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • This is achieved by undertaking a series of placements covering all aspects of manufacture.
  • You will then look to specialise in:
    • Electromechanical assembly
    • Electro optic assembly
    • Electronic test
    • Optical test
    • Inspection

Our team of in-house experts will support your development whilst you become part of a huge community of apprentices working in Leonardo throughout the UK.

What we need from you:

  • An enthusiasm to learn and develop practical and personal skills to complement the business requirements.
  • A methodical and practical approach to organising and problem-solving.
  • Good team working skills.
  • Initiative, flexibility and the desire to learn and develop.
  • Be comfortable using common IT applications such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • You must have a minimum of 3 x GCSE grades 9-4 / A* - C or equivalent, including Maths, English and a Science.

Salary: £17,850

During your Apprenticeship, we encourage you to spend at least 3/4 days a week on site to integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.

Security Clearance: This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, which could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
