What you'll do

  • Own the design and development of highly performant backend systems using technologies such as Java.
  • Contribute to the product technical roadmap and implement cloud and container technologies such as Kubernetes on AWS Platform.
  • Lead the design and support of services and internal frameworks that enhance Sainsbury's capabilities.
  • Demonstrate engineering expertise throughout the product lifecycle, including decommissioning, with knowledge of engineering and architectural principles, software design and implementation, security, cloud, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD.
  • Drive continuous improvement and advocate for agile/lean delivery methodologies.
  • Deliver solutions to customers and support colleagues in the team while staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and maintaining work-life balance.

Who you are

  • A highly skilled professional with expertise in designing and developing highly performant backend systems.
  • Strong background in programming languages like Java, Spring Boot, and AWS, with a deep understanding of engineering and architectural principles to contribute to roadmaps and implement cloud/container technologies.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, agile/lean delivery, and delivering customer-focused solutions.
  • Collaborative by nature with a commitment to Dev Sec Ops principles to empower teammates.
