The role involves building and developing technical security solutions to protect our airline and customers from cyber-attacks. You will work with colleagues globally to create and maintain capabilities that meet our requirements and address threats. Reporting to the Cyber Security Engineering Principal - Cloud and Connect, your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and building security tools and capabilities to mitigate threats to British Airways.
  • Aligning with a threat and risk-led strategy to focus on key priorities while minimising overheads.
  • Maintaining an understanding of modern attacker techniques and procedures to ensure tools and capabilities are effective.
  • Proactively assessing the existing technical landscape to ensure ongoing effective protection.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and developments for future technology adoption.
  • Developing an understanding of broader organisational functions and their respective priorities.

  • Highly analytical with a methodical and structured approach and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, making complex technical issues approachable for all stakeholders.
  • Ability to review security reference architectures, patterns, and guidance.
  • Capability to recognise priorities and guide others towards strategic business goals.

  • Strong understanding of cyber security processes, people, and technology.
  • Experience in implementing, managing, and documenting security solutions in complex environments.
  • Practical and pragmatic approach with excellent prioritisation and planning skills.

Your experience should include:

  • Strong background using Cloud Security Posture Management services such as AWS Security Hub, Defender for Cloud, and Crowdstrike CSPM.
  • Working knowledge of cloud providers like AWS and Azure and their respective security services.
  • Familiarity with other security tools such as MS Defender, Akamai, and Sentinel.
  • Ability to understand and develop coding languages such as Terraform and Python.
