As a Cyber Engineer within our cyber and protective monitoring capability, you will play a key role in modernising complex data platforms, advancing automation, and strengthening security operations. Working in a collaborative, on-site environment in Basingstoke, you’ll contribute to meaningful, technically challenging work while being supported to grow your expertise in SIEM technologies and DevOps practices, with the opportunity to shape robust, scalable solutions that make a tangible difference.

Your future duties and responsibilities
In this role, you will contribute to the evolution of critical cyber and data platforms, helping modernise infrastructure and improve the reliability, scalability, and security of systems used in protective monitoring environments. You will work within a DevOps-focused team to design, build, and enhance data ingestion and processing pipelines, ensuring systems are automated, resilient, and aligned with evolving security requirements. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to deliver solutions that directly support mission‑critical outcomes. You will also help improve release processes, embed automation, and support continuous delivery practices, while developing your skills across SIEM tooling and modern engineering frameworks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Modernise & transform data collection, processing, and storage using distributed systems (Kafka, Kubernetes, Zookeeper)
- Develop & deliver CI/CD pipelines to improve release quality and deployment efficiency
- Optimise & automate deployment and release processes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align engineering work with security requirements
- Support & enhance SIEM and protective monitoring capabilities
- Document and maintain technical designs, installation steps, and support processes
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You should have a solid foundation in software engineering, cyber engineering, or systems development, with experience working in Linux and/or Windows environments. You will bring a proactive mindset, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn in a secure, high‑assurance environment. Exposure to DevOps practices, automation, or security tooling will help you succeed in the role.
