Your Impact
The Mission systems business sector is recruiting for a Project Manager to support the CUAS & IR Imagers Portfolio as we look to progress the growth of this portfolio area. This role will report into the CUAS & IR Imagers Programme Manager directly. The role is to lead relevant projects within the CUAS & IR Imagers Portfolio for the successful delivery of products and integrated solutions within the CUAS, Air Defence & IR Imagers military markets. The role will also support with the expected expansion of the business area as we seek to exploit our world leading Falcon Shield & Nerio Electro-Optic Director product lines.
Within this role you will lead cross functional IPT’s to support the CUAS & IR Imagers Portfolio and Mission Systems Sector to deliver the customer output and product development projects. Through ensuring outputs are achieved this will help Mission Systems grow the market footprint and achieve maximum value to the ISP Line of Business. The role will provide awareness and visibility for the Project Manager to key external and internal stakeholders as the role will cover delivery requirements for both customer as well as internal development & stock order projects. Success for this role is achieved through effective planning and management of team performance, project schedule, cost and adherence to the Quality parameters specific to each internal or external project. The three main objectives being to ensure Customer satisfaction is high, delivery projects to Time / Cost / Quality and support the IPT to deliver growth for the Mission Systems Business Sector.
This role will be primarily based out of our Basildon location with an expectation of regular on-site presence, while also adopting the Leonardo Ways of Working that includes a proportion of home and flexible working.
Understand and support the delivery of the Strategy of the CUAS & IR Imagers Portfolio and wider Mission Systems Sector.
- Establish clear success criteria/objectives for each member of the relevant IPT’s, identify and manage the dependencies between IPT members.
- Establish and manage the appropriate working environment (Tools and Facilities etc.) to maximise productivity, in partnership with the Functions and aligned to the Leonardo Business Management system.
- Establish the tailored Lifecycle Management framework (Project Plans, WBS, OBS and Cost/Control Accounts) that governs the operation of the IPT.
- Co-coordinating the activities of the IPT by establishing appropriate communication mechanisms, encompassing both meetings and reporting requirements.
- Establish and maintain the Work Package Management for the IPT, understanding the specific resource profiles.
- Implementation of Earned Value Management across relevant programme also supporting the adoption of IP (P6).
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and the achievement of the Project's economic-financial objectives, ensuring maximum value creation throughout the entire lifecycle of the Project.
- Monitoring and Control of all activities and costs, defining and implementing corrective (or "recovery") actions required to tackle any deviations from the planned activities.
- Ownership of ETC and Forecast forward load activities.
- Collate Manage and present Project performance and the IPT's activities, including active representation of the IPT at contract status reviews.
- Organise and coordinate internal Phase/Gate Reviews, Customer reviews and supplier reviews and manage all resultant actions to closure.
- Conduct effective Risk and Opportunity Management, ensuring that all risks and opportunities are recorded, managed and tracked to closure.
- Establish, develop and maintain relationships with Suppliers throughout the entire lifecycle of the Project, aligned to the Sub-Contractor Management function.
- Work closely with the Engineering function to ensure any technical project requirements are met on time, to quality and cost.
- Promote a culture of best practice sharing and knowledge exploitation within the IPT.
- Build and manage relationships with internal/ external stakeholders to ensure all projects supported and delivered maximising customer satisfaction.
- Accountable for delivering on financial commitments, relevant to projects.
- Ownership for delivery and performance of the projects of relevance.
What You'll Bring
- Demonstrable experience in a similar level Project Management role or discipline.
- Project management experience in most phases of the project execution lifecycle, including Business Winning Phases, across several projects or programmes of medium complexity, involving both engineering and manufacturing.
- Experience of developing and maintaining customer/ supplier relations.
- Experience or awareness of related functions such as Commercial, Procurement, Quality Assurance.
- Demonstrable experience in all aspects of project planning, scheduling, work package management and cost control.
- Demonstrable experience of managing multi-million pound Projects as the Project lead.
- Applies professional concepts in creative ways.
- Ability to influence and motivate project teams (direct/indirect management).
- Knowledge and awareness of Leonardo product offerings.
