This is an analytics engineering role for someone who thrives on complex, high‑value work where the path forward is not always obvious. As an Analytics Engineer in Strategic Projects, you’ll sit at the heart of Virgin Media O₂’s data transformation, turning critical business priorities into trusted, reusable and decision‑ready data products. You’ll be the person called on when the work is strategically important, crosses domains, or carries technical risk, using your judgement to make sure it’s built once, built well and built to last.

In practice, you’ll translate broad and sometimes ambiguous business questions into certified business layers, robust transformation logic and clear semantic definitions. You’ll design and build analytics engineering solutions that support executive decisions, strategic products and data‑driven agents, while keeping governance, quality and reuse front of mind. Working closely with Heads of Data, Data Product Owners, BI specialists and partner engineers, you’ll challenge weak assumptions, protect standards and share proven patterns back into the wider analytics engineering community so others can move faster without compromising quality.

Must Haves

  • Senior analytics engineering experience delivering data products or strategic data projects
  • Strong hands‑on SQL and cloud data platform experience, ideally using BigQuery and dbt
  • Proven ability to build certified, reusable business logic and semantic layers
  • Solid understanding of data governance, quality, lineage and controlled release practices
  • Experience working across business, product and engineering teams on complex initiatives

Other qualifications we are looking for

  • Experience supporting conversational analytics, AI agents or intelligent automation
  • Familiarity with tools such as Atlan, Monte Carlo, Tableau or similar platforms
  • Experience reviewing or overseeing partner delivery
  • A background in defining or sharing reusable analytics engineering patterns
  • Confidence operating in ambiguous problem spaces

Benefits

We know life isn’t just about work, so our benefits are built to support you in the moments that matter. You’ll get Bupa healthcare, wellbeing support, life cover, a pension and generous holiday – plus your birthday off. And there’s more. Enjoy some extra perks on us, with optional electric vehicle lease and Cycle2Work schemes, dental insurance, neurodiversity assessments, and brilliant discounts on broadband, TV and mobile. You’ll even get access to the Virgin Family platform and the O₂ Priority app, with exclusive rewards, experiences and chances to attend events at The O₂ and beyond.
