Your Role: Are you ready to shape the future of patient safety in the UK & Ireland while contributing to a truly global mission? We are seeking an experienced functional leader to represent our UK & Ireland operations within the Global Patient Safety team, driving excellence, compliance, and innovation across local and international pharmacovigilance (PV) activities.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Oversight: Lead and drive the implementation of Global Patient Safety strategy, ensuring standardised, compliant practices locally and globally. Translate corporate strategies into effective short- and long-term action plans that meet local regulatory obligations. Oversee performance, compliance, and operational processes to maintain LEO Pharma’s licence to operate. Ensure continuity and resilience of PV activities, acting as both the Safety Contact Person (SCP) for UK/IE and the National PV Contact Person in the UK.
- People Management: Manage, coach and inspire two direct reports, fostering a high-performing safety team. Mentor, develop, and train the team to maintain excellence in patient safety standards. Bridge local and global operations, communicating organisational changes and transformations clearly and effectively.
- Local Safety Operations: Provide timely, accurate input to the Global Pharmacovigilance System Master File (PSMF) and maintain the local PSMF for the UK. Act as the primary PV interface with UK/IE health authorities. Manage PV case reporting end-to-end, ensuring timelines, reconciliations, and archiving are completed in accordance with local/international standards. Lead local audits and inspections, ensuring readiness and compliance. Deliver PV training to partners and internal teams. Monitor regulatory changes, alert relevant stakeholders to potential safety signals, and implement risk minimisation measures. Oversee PV-related outsourcing, ensuring compliance from external partners. Support projects including Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS), Non-Interventional Studies (NIS), market research, Patient Support Programmes, and Social Media initiatives. Maintain 24/7 availability for EU/UK Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance (QPPV) requirements.
- Key Working Relationships: Collaborate closely with Global Patient Safety, Medical Affairs, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Information, Legal, and Commercial teams. Act as a communication bridge between local operations and global leadership.
Your Qualifications
- Qualified Pharmacist, holder of a relevant biomedical degree, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive, up-to-date experience in pharmacovigilance, particularly in the post-marketing setting.
- Proven leadership and line management skills, with a record in coaching and mentoring teams to achieve excellence.
- Extensive knowledge and practical application of UK and EU regulatory guidelines in pharmacovigilance and clinical processes.
- Exceptional communication and influencing abilities, with the credibility to engage and partner effectively with senior leaders across the organisation.
- Skilled at constructively challenging existing practices and driving positive change.
