Seeking Volunteer Gardener(s) to revitalise garden space at Iveagh Centre, Belfast

The Iveagh Centre is a hospital inpatient facility for young people with a learning disability and additional mental health problems. We are looking for enthusiastic Volunteers to join staff in restoring the garden areas to create a welcoming and therapeutic space for patients and their families/visitors. You will use your horticultural experience to advise regarding weeding, re-planting flowerbeds, pruning, clearing leaves etc.

If you have horticultural experience and would be confident in sharing your knowledge, want to give back to your community and be part of a great Volunteer network this role is for you! In return we will give you lots of support to get the best out of your role and travel expenses.All materials are provided, some level of physical fitness is required. Supervision by dedicated staff is provided and the role is flexible to fit around your current commitments.

*Successful Volunteers must be at least 17 years old and will complete references, Enhanced Access NI check and Occupational Health screening prior to completing the role

Tasks and responsibilities

  • To request plants and bulbs when seasonally required for planting
  • To guide staff on any maintenance required in relevant area
  • To liaise with relevant member of staff relating to other garden projects
