About The Role

This is a fixed term position for 12 months.

This is a dynamic and impactful field-based coaching role, employed by Swansea University, but with a core focus on community engagement, player development, and driving recruitment across West Wales. The successful candidate will be a key figure within the Player Development Centre (PDC) West, leading on the Emerging Player Programme (EPP) and the Talent Development Group (TDG), providing a clear and aligned pathway for aspiring athletes.
The majority of the working week will be spent delivering high-quality coaching sessions across schools, colleges, and local clubs, identifying and nurturing talented players while building strong community links. A significant part of this role is to actively recruit players into the Swansea University rugby programme, ensuring long-term growth and sustainability, particularly within the women’s game.
In addition to outreach, the coach will work closely with the University’s rugby squads, supporting weekly training delivery, game preparation, and player development planning. The role provides the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to both the community game and the performance environment.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 – A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
