Who We Are
The Standard is a media owner that provides Culture & News for Londoners everywhere.
Through our story-first digital centric publishing we deliver content across Digital, Audio, Video, Social platforms and are launching a new weekly print product.
We are based in Finsbury Square, London.
About you
The duties of the successful candidate will include:
• Writing and reporting, both in the newsroom and on the ground.
• Researching and working on a range of editorial and in-depth projects
• Contributing to social media channels and using graphics to illustrate data led stories.
• Spending time with different editorial departments including news, features, and audience.
• Interviewing people, live blogging, taking photos and video.

• Demonstrative commitment to working in the media.
The candidate will in addition take part in a PA Media Academy NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists) course. This will either be:
- Editorial Journalism Apprentice course. (Candidates must not have an equivalent qualification (e.g. Journalism degree). Graduates with a non-journalism degree can apply.)
- L6&7 Senior Journalist apprenticeship (MA equivalent) course, which is open to Graduates including those who have taken publishing or journalism courses.
L6&7 Senior Journalist apprenticeship (MA equivalent). NCTJ National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ – L6 equivalent). Candidates will take an advanced media law exam, sector-specific skills exam and complete a logbook of stories they’ve had published/broadcast. There are several sector specific pathways available, eg, news, broadcast, sports, specialist brand publishing. Once the NQJ has been completed, candidates receive leadership/mentoring and management training and learn best practice in managing a team and contributors, as well as giving constructive feedback to junior staff .
