Mech Tech Professionals have a full-time opportunity available for an experienced Operations Manager to work at an Energy from Waste Facility based in Gloucestershire. Our client, one of the UK\’s most prestigious Waste and resource management companies, requires an experienced professional to start with them immediately or upon availability. Attractive Salary + benefits This is a permanent position, working 5 days per week (Monday to Friday). Position Overview: As an Operations Manager, you play a pivotal role in overseeing the smooth, safe, and sustainable operation of projects at an Energy from Waste facility. You will take charge of maintaining high standards in health, safety, and environmental compliance, while ensuring that customer needs are met and operational goals are achieved within budget, while also contributing to the long-term strategic direction of the site. Main responsibilities will include: * Implementation of the clients Health, Safety and Environmental Management systems, to deliver and maintain high standards across all Operations department activities * Ensure compliance and performance of designated safe System of Work responsibilities, adhering to company policies * Provision of leadership, direction, management and personal development to the Operations team * Build and maintain a team working culture with team members * Lead role in site Safety forums, including procedure and Safety System reviews on a periodic basis * Management of close Operations/Maintenance team co-operation in the development, implementation and use of the site CMMS * Strategic and day to day operational management, supervision, planning, and co-ordination of departmental activities, in close co-operation with the Maintenance teams – effective interfaces between the Operations department and all other site functional teams * Planning, development and delivery of the Operations/Maintenance/Safety Rules interfaces required for the safe, effective and timely delivery of equipment and facility planned and unplanned outages. * Deputise for the EfW General Manager when required * Preparation and management of contracts (including departmental budgets) required for any external technical support Candidate requirements: * Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant engineering degree, and Membership of an appropriate Engineering institution. * Minimum five years of supervisory experience in operations and/or engineering, ideally in steam-powered electricity generation or Energy from Waste * NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (Preferred) * Great knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation * Detailed knowledge and experience of Electricity Supply Industry standard Safe Systems of work, Safety Rules and Permit for Work Systems (preferred) * Experience managing change and driving performance improvement * Computer literate and confident in data analysis and reporting * Ability to manage and liaise with third parties
