Join us in the CPD group in our North Geography, where you’ll play a crucial role in one of our largest teams outside London. You will ideally be based in Leeds, and you’ll be at the heart of our growth and success, helping us win new business and deliver exciting projects across the North‑west and Yorkshire
Is this role for you?
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to and influence the future planning of a dynamic and evolving team, developing our skillsets to ensure we have the breadth and depth of experience to deliver projects that shape the future of transport and the places it serves in the North and beyond. As part of the role, you will report to an assigned Line Manager and indirectly to the CPD North Geography leader.
You will work with Transport Planning colleagues in the North to support on projects, deliver tasks and enable future growth. Your technical background should be in Transport Planning and strategy development, supplemented with strength in data analytics, and you will be required to have a desire to gain knowledge of the regional transport market and client organisations across the North of England. You will work with our Infrastructure engineers in the development of scheme designs.
Build the technical expertise of our transport planning practice, supplementing the team’s existing strengths. And support the development of the team’s data‑driven approach to projects. Be comfortable working with spatial data using tools like ArcGIS Pro or QGIS. And ideally have an understanding or interest in learning, public transport data formats (i.e. GTFS) and working with tools such as Podaris or TRACC.
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Have a working knowledge of how Transport Planning can contribute to achieving the wider goals and ambitions of our clients (primarily local and regional authorities). Demonstrate an up‑to‑date interest in the transport policy landscape at the local, regional and national level, how it is evolving and innovating, and how funding is allocated.
- Understanding different transport modes and how they come together on projects for an integrated transport solution.
- Knowledgeable user of various transport related tools and modelling software; and familiarity with relevant policies and design guidance (e.g. LTN 1/20, TAG experience).
- Transport Planning/Engineering professional, with at least 3‑5 years post‑graduation experience in either a consultancy or public‑sector environment.
- Demonstrable track record in supporting project delivery; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proven ability to delegate work to supporting staff where appropriate. Proven ability to contribute written and analytical material to clear and accurate technical outputs and client presentations.
Additional qualifications
- Degree qualified or equivalent; additional qualifications in a relevant discipline would be desirable.
- Interested in exploring a professional qualification with a relevant professional institution.
