Job Description

Our clientsare looking for a Senior Development Underwriter to join theirLondon Branch, proactivelymanaging the submissions, quotes and binds for new business and delivering against targetquote and conversion ratios. This job is hybrid working-3 days in London or seeing Brokers, 2 days at home.

Joining a London based New business underwriting team as a Senior P&C underwriter you will write general commercial combined business. Products include Charities (Healthcare), Education, Health and Social Care, Hotels, Manufacturing, Office, Property Owners, Restaurants, Motor Trade and Warehousing. Premiums are probably from £15,000 -£400,000. The London team cover a wide area to include Essex, East Anglia, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Reading, and Kent. Underwriters are supported by administrators in Redhill and a sales and distribution team.

What Will You Do?

Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of businessprimarily comprised of moderate to complex accounts across all our clientsproducts.

Underwrite and skilfully negotiate moderate to complex risks to minimise risk andmaximise profitability, including Mid Term Adjustments (MTAs).

Proactively manage your portfolio, ensuring key performance indicators areconsistently achieved and you actively target new business and retention.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

A Levels or similar qualification.

Knowledge: Deep knowledge of products, the regulatory environment, and the localinsurance market.

Analytical/Criticalthinking:Strongcriticalthinkingskillswiththeabilitytounderwrite, market products, identify financial challenges, and analyse available information tomake decisions in alignment with our clientsrisk appetite.

Communication/Influence: Excellent communication skills with the ability tosuccessfully negotiate in difficult situations with brokers.
