We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager with a strong background in the nuclear sector to lead and manage the planning, cost control, risk management, and reporting functions across complex nuclear infrastructure and decommissioning projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective project controls systems that support the successful delivery of projects in compliance with nuclear safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive project controls systems for scope, schedule, cost, change, and risk management on nuclear projects.
Lead a team of project controls professionals (schedulers, cost engineers, planners, risk analysts) across multiple workstreams.
Prepare detailed project baselines, and maintain tracking mechanisms for performance measurement (earned value management – EVM).
Produce regular performance reports (e.g., CPI, SPI, variance analysis) and present to internal and external stakeholders.
Manage forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and resource planning in line with project lifecycle requirements.
Interface with project managers, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and regulatory teams to ensure accurate and timely data flow.
Identify trends, risks, and issues and recommend corrective actions to maintain project objectives.
Support audits, reviews, and assurance processes aligned with nuclear safety culture and compliance standards (e.g., ONR, IAEA, NDA).
Ensure compliance with all relevant nuclear-specific regulations, codes of practice, and client requirements.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of project controls processes, tools, and systems within the organization.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of project controls experience, with at least 5 years in the nuclear industry (e.g., new build, decommissioning, power generation, SMRs, etc.).
Strong understanding of project controls tools and techniques (Primavera P6, Deltek, Prism, EcoSys, etc.).
In-depth knowledge of earned value management, risk management, change control, and cost/schedule integration.
Demonstrated experience working in regulated, high-compliance environments.
Familiarity with nuclear industry standards (e.g., ONR regulations, IAEA guidelines, ISO 19443).
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience supporting NEC3/4 or FIDIC contracts is a plus.
Professional certifications such as ACostE, PMI-SP, PMP, or equivalent desirable.
SC clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
Experience working on major UK nuclear programs (e.g., Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, Sellafield).
Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop project controls staff.
Proactive and detail-oriented with a commitment to nuclear safety and excellence in delivery.
