Job Description ENTERPRISE AND SUSTAINABLE REGENERATION Enterprise and Economic Growth Business Gateway Officer 35 hours per week Temporary maternity cover up to 19 December 2025 £36,072 – £39,412 / £19.77 – £21.60 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance) We are looking for an experienced person to help expand and develop the service offering to growth businesses within the Business Gateway. This role will successfully deliver a range of professional advisory and financial support services and manage delivery of aftercare services, which will lead to an increase in business growth and improved business survival rates. The successful post holder will support, work closely with, and report to the Business Gateway Manager to manage the delivery of high quality business support services to new high-value start-up businesses and existing businesses with growth potential. This will include supporting the delivery and promotion of the Orkney Business Gateway service, including a range of financial assistance programmes, business skills workshops, access to specialist advice/business information and access to a variety of business development tools, including the Business Gateway website. Knowledge of project planning and implementation is essential for this role, as is experience of managing programmes of activities and directly engaging with customers. Experience in the delivery of economic development support is desirable. Working effectively with others to develop professional relationships with colleagues, partners, communities and the public form a crucial part of this role. Applicants should be educated to SCQF level 7 (e.g., HNC, SVQ3) in a relevant subject area. You should also hold a Premier Adviser qualification (SFEDI Diploma in Business Advice at SCQF Level 8) or, where this is not held, be willing to undertake this qualification. We are looking for a dedicated individual with the ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, and adapt to changing working practices. Working knowledge of IT applications and proficiency with Microsoft Office and similar applications is essential. You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
