About The Role

The Design Draughtsperson is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models based on requirements of the engineering department and wider business.

This role exists to support the design and development of various projects by producing accurate and precise drawings that meet industry standards and project requirements.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Produce functionally safe, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs and concepts using 3D modelling to support engineering tasks.
  • Create comprehensive and precise technical drawings, as well as 2D schematics when required.
  • Produce clear and well-structured assembly and interface drawings as well as overall general arrangements.
  • Provide general draughting support to wider engineering functions when necessary, and other departments if requested.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and specifications.
  • Ensure that all drawings comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review and revise drawings based on feedback from engineers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawings and revisions, ensuring proper documentation and version control.
  • Provide support during the assembly and manufacturing phases by addressing any drawing-related queries or issues.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance drafting skills and knowledge.

Who are we looking for?

You will need the ability to handle pressure situations, manage multiple tasks simultaneously & adapt to changing scope.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are a must within your skillset, along with being methodical and thorough.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to liaise effectively across departments.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Proven experience in technical drafting or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of SolidWorks (or similar) CAD software and drafting principles.
  • Proficiency in using drafting tools and software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • HNC qualification in engineering discipline or time served background.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the latest draughting & engineering standards, rules and regulations.
  • You will need to be able to pass security clearance for this role and also have the right to work and reside in the UK.
