Project Quantity Surveyor – Luton Borough Council

Hours per week: 37

Contract type: Fixed Term (up to 2 years)

Salary: £47,181 – £50,269 a year plus £3,203 car benefit allowance

About the Job

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to support the Design team in the delivery of major projects by undertaking pre‑ and post‑contract quantity surveying services including cost consultancy. The role ensures effective and timely delivery of best‑value services that comply with statutory building and design requirements and Council policy.

Responsibilities

  • Cost estimating and preparation of preliminary estimates and feasibility studies
  • Procurement and tendering, making recommendations and reporting
  • Contract preparation and working with JCT & NEC Suite of contracts
  • Measurement to NRM2 standard
  • Project financial control and reporting, ensuring projects remain within budget
  • Valuations and agreeing final accounts
  • Risk management

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
  • In‑depth experience of quantity surveying procedures and practices, within a large public or private sector organisation
  • Project management, budget management, construction procurement, and collaborative working skills
  • Strong consultation, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
  • Clear and concise report‑writing skills
  • Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract, standard measurement methods and quantity surveying codes of practice
  • Availability to attend site meetings and valuations 2–3 times per week
