This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and motivated educator to join a thriving Performing Arts and Digital Media department. You\’ll be delivering dynamic and industry-relevant teaching across Levels 2-3 (and potentially Levels 4-5), preparing students for careers in the ever-evolving creative digital sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Assessment
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Media and Games Design using innovative and inclusive teaching methods.
- Teach across Levels 2 and 3, with potential for Higher Education (Levels 4-5) delivery.
- Use digital tools and industry software to support effective teaching and learning.
- Set, mark, and assess work in line with awarding body requirements and college quality standards.
Student Progress & Support
- Monitor and record student progress, ensuring all learners are supported to reach their potential.
- Lead tutorials and provide guidance to help students navigate their academic and career development.
Curriculum Development
- Contribute to curriculum planning, course development, and continuous improvement.
- Create engaging learning materials and contribute to internal verification and quality assurance processes.
Industry Engagement & Events
- Support employability through industry liaison, guest speakers, and work placement opportunities.
- Actively participate in marketing and promotional events such as open days and careers fairs.
Leadership & Compliance (for qualified lecturers)
- Act as course tutor and mentor new teaching staff where appropriate.
- Uphold safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and professional development standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or equivalent in Media or Games Design.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (grades A-C).
- Recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to gain one – PGCE/CertEd supported).
- Experience teaching Media or Games Design at Level 2 or higher.
- Current knowledge of the digital media/games sector and relevant technologies.
Technical Proficiency:
- Skilled in industry-standard software including editing, animation, and design tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.).
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time, resources, and multiple teaching groups.
- A student-focused, inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
- A collaborative team player who contributes positively to department and college-wide goals.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with learners, colleagues, and stakeholders.
