Job opportunity: Lecturer – Tourism & Aviation Operations

We\’re seeking a motivated and learner-focused Lecturer to join our college team. You\’ll teach across a range of programmes – delivering knowledge, building skills, and creating inclusive learning experiences. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact.

What you\’ll do:

Plan and deliver learning

  • Design and deliver inclusive, high-quality lessons.
  • Create engaging learning materials tailored to diverse learner needs.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress.

Support learner development

  • Guide academic and personal development through tutorials and pastoral care.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress and engagement.

Enhance curriculum and quality

  • Keep course content current and aligned with industry standards.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes.

Collaborate and uphold standards

  • Work with colleagues and external partners to enrich the learner experience.
  • Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies.

What we\’re looking for

You\’ll need:

  • A relevant subject qualification (e.g. degree or equivalent).
  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • Level 2 English and Maths (e.g. GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent).
  • The ability to plan and deliver effective, inclusive teaching for diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of subject-specific pedagogy and current teaching practices in further or higher education.
  • Clear communication and strong organisational skills.
  • Confidence using digital tools to support learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and ongoing professional development.

About Newcastle Aviation Academy

Located just off the runway at Newcastle International Airport, Newcastle College Aviation Academy offers a unique, hands-on learning environment for aspiring aviation professionals. The Academy is housed in a 12,000m² aircraft hangar-winner of the Queen\’s Anniversary Prize-and is the only facility of its kind in the North East of England.

Students train on a fleet of real aircraft, including a Boeing 737, BAE Jetstream 31, Piper Aztec, and Jet Provosts, supported by cutting-edge facilities such as avionics labs, aerospace workshops, and cabin crew simulators. The Academy delivers industry-aligned education in aeronautical engineering, aviation operations, and cabin crew training, with strong ties to Newcastle International Airport and a proven track record of graduate employment.
