Role Overview

As a Lecturer in Music, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning across a range of music programmes, from Entry Level to Higher Education. You will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and innovative lessons, schemes of work, and resources
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including blended and online learning
  • Set clear learning targets and support students in achieving their full potential
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing effective feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum development and student recruitment
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • A Level 3 or 4 qualification in a relevant music subject area (e.g., HND, degree, or equivalent professional qualification)
  • English and Maths at Level 2 or equivalent
  • Industry/commercial experience within the music sector
  • Live sound and performance experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current vocational and educational developments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive teaching
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable:

  • Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, DET)
  • Level 3 teaching/training qualification (e.g., PTLLS) or willingness to work towards one
  • Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications (if relevant)
  • Prior teaching experience in an FE or HE setting
  • Experience with e-learning and digital resource development
