Head of Security Operations
We are looking for an experienced technology leader to join our team as the Head of Security Operations on a permanent basis in London.
Reporting to the Director of Technology Support, you’ll be accountable for running the Security Operations team and will have ownership of technical security protection systems in place here at Penguin Random House. The Head of Security Operations will work closely with the Information Security Architect and the Head of Information Security to ensure that future roadmaps address business risk and deliver against operational requirements.

The role
Key responsibilities:
- Development of technical security standards, processes and guidelines to support Penguin Random House’s Information Security policy deployment.
- Leading and developing the Security Operations team (the team is composed of Security Analysts, End-point Protection Specialist and will include virtual members from technology teams as required).
- Lead the provision of operational governance within the technology division to give assurance to senior stakeholders by providing services and reporting on issues.
- Ensuring the delivery of IT Services supports users to comply with information security policies and best practice.
- Conduct reviews of security technology for adherence to policy.
- Management of an Operational Security Risk Register.
- Ensure procedures are in place, fit for purpose and followed for all security administration, investigation and breach response activities.
- Security Incident & Event Management.
- Managing the documentation of all Operational Security procedures.
- Provide governance of deletion of data / disk disposal.
- Co-ordination of a programme of technical security tests and remediation plans.
- Provide security related guidance and recommendations on an ongoing basis based on appropriate risk assessments or established policies.
- Support the delivery of on-going security initiatives and security projects.
- Develop and deliver Operational Security improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the effective deployment of security solutions within technology operations such as: DDoS Protection System, End Point Protection, Web Security Governance and Control, Email Security.

- Proven experience in an IT Security/IT Operations role.
- Demonstrable leadership qualities, clearly articulating goals and objectives whilst motivating and leading others towards their achievements.
- A proactive individual who identifies opportunities for improvement and takes the appropriate initiative to deliver.
- A strong understanding of the business impact of security tools, technologies and policies.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to convey confidence and professionalism when engaging with stakeholders, demonstrating influence and persuasion.
- An excellent understanding of information security concepts, protocols, industry best practices and strategies and how they relate to the business.
- Ability to commit to the hybrid working pattern mentioned below.
- Willingness to travel to our site in Frating, Colchester when required.

Salary
The salary for this opportunity is c.£100,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus a generous bonus scheme and benefits.
Hybrid working
While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role we expect that you will work from the Embassy Gardens office in London 2 days per week (typically Tuesday & Wednesday) with a willingness to travel to our site in Frating, Colchester approx 1-2 times per month.
