Excellent opportunity for a StructuralEngineer with SFS design experience to join a highly reputable, professional and successful Engineering Department. This role is ideally suited to a Structural Engineer with prior experience and familiarity in the design and engineering of SFS systems and products for construction and who is seeking a progressive career opportunity in a well established specialist company.
As a Structural Engineer, you\’ll assist experienced Engineers in designing and analysing structural systems for construction projects. This role offers hands-on experience and growth opportunities in the field of structural engineering. The role requires producing the detailed design to meet with design and construction programmes, liaising with other disciplines and ensuring coordination of design and detailed work appropriate to the project.
Reporting into Senior Engineers and Associates the role will essentially involve, but not be restricted tothe following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out structural surveys of building / desk studys and providing initial advice on any issues that may arise.
- Preparation of conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes with support of the wider team.
- Preparation of detailed design calculations to British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant design guidance notes using relevant 3D software packages.
- Preparation of detailed design drawings and specifications for Tender purposes.
- Responding to Client requests for information.
- Supporting the production of Construction information for issue to Contractors.
- Visiting sites during the Construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to Contractors.
- Day-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines within the office.
- Attend team meetings with both internal and external disciplines.
Skills:
- Experience of structural design in Light Gauge Steel structures, as well as experience in other structural materials.
- Computer literate with knowledge of design and analysis programmes.
- A desire to work constructively in a team, finding holistic building design solutions.
- Experience of working with Eurocodes and British Standards.
- Understanding of the CDM Regulations and designers responsibilities.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Qualifications:
- A good degree in Structural / Civil Engineering.
Experience:
- Experience, competency and flexibility to rise to challenging situations and take on responsibility appropriate to their capability.
- You will have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop, and you will be supported towards Chartership through IStructE / ICE.
