Job Description

Triple West Medical are excited to offer a rare and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Consultant Physician in Older People’s Medicine to join our Client, an NHS organisation based in SW Scotland.

The department is leading transformation across the region, delivering innovative, person-centred care models that are changing the lives of older people and their families. If you are passionate about making a real difference and helping shape the future of care for older adults, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Why Join?

They are investing in a revolutionary Model of Care focused on frailty, rehabilitation, and “Hospital at Home” services—designed to support people in their own homes or homely settings while maximising independence, health, and wellbeing.

You will work as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team across a variety of acute and community hospital sites, including:

  • 2 main hospital sites with co-located Frailty Units
  • Another site for complex and palliative care
  • Expanding Hospital at Home services, active 7 days a week
  • Innovative pre-operative frailty clinics and outpatient opportunities

They offer dedicated time for sub-specialty development—including education, trauma/orthogeriatrics, movement disorders, or peri-operative medicine—tailored to your interests and career goals.

The Role

As a Consultant, you’ll:

  • Provide expert clinical leadership in acute frailty, inpatient, and community settings
  • Collaborate closely with Primary Care and Health & Social Care Partnerships
  • Help drive transformational change within integrated care systems
  • Contribute to developing the Acute Frailty Pathway, Intermediate Care, and Hospital at Home services
  • Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching with multiple medical schools
  • Have a voice in the evolving shape of services and the opportunity to lead innovation
  • This is more than a clinical post—it’s a chance to be at the heart of shaping how older people’s care is delivered across an entire health system.

Location Highlights

The area offers the best of both worlds:

  • Affordable homes and excellent schools
  • Easy access to the nearby city
  • Rich cultural scene, excellent dining, and vibrant community life
  • Outdoor paradise: from sailing and golf (with 3 Open Championship courses!) to hiking and castles
  • Whether you're relocating or commuting, this area offers an unbeatable quality of life.

They Offer

  • 10 PA contract with options for extra PAs based on service need
  • Strong administrative and managerial support
  • Career development within a supportive and progressive organisation
  • Participation in major service redesign and leadership initiatives
  • Opportunity to shape integrated care across primary, secondary, and community services

Refer a Friend – Earn Up to £2,000!

Alternatively, if this role isn’t for you but someone comes to mind, we are offering a referral bonus between £1,500 – £2,000 for every successful referral placed into one of our Consultant roles (T&C’s apply). Please feel free to forward this opportunity to any colleagues or contacts who may be a great fit.
