IO Interactive is seeking a talentedSenior Backend Engineerto join our team on our Backbone team. We are currently working on two exciting game projects: Project 007 and Project Fantasy. Project 007 is a brand-new James Bond video game featuring an entirely original Bond story, and Project Fantasy is an ambitious new IP for console and PC that will revolutionize the online fantasy RPG genre.
As we work on these exciting projects, we need a skilled professional to assist us in the development of our state-of-the-art propriety game development engine, Glacier.
In this highly technical role, you\’ll make a real impact by tackling complex backend challenges and modernizing legacy systems through thoughtful reengineering and architectural improvements. If you have deep experience with legacy codebases and backend systems, enjoy solving complex problems, thrive in independent work, and are passionate about improving systems at scale, this could be the perfect fit.
What you will do:
- Plan and develop backend features and developer tooling in line with the overall online vision for our game engine and projects.
- Maintain a prioritized backlog of backend development requests.
- Align plans and solutions with your lead, other developers, and producers.
- Develop and maintain development tools, including Perforce integration tools and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of service deployment and operations.
- Optimize code and data structures to ensure the best possible performance.
- Support programmers and QA in getting the most out of our tools.
- Collaborate with programmers and content creators both within the team and across other teams to deliver optimal solutions.
Who you are:
- Experienced in working with online client/server products (e.g., games, web services, cloud solutions).
- Proficient in C#, with additional knowledge of C++ and compilation pipelines considered a plus.
- Skilled in building and deploying cloud-native solutions, preferably using Azure; experience with AWS or GCP is also valuable.
- Background in Developer Platforms or Platform Engineering.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Collaborative and comfortable working in cross-functional teams.
