About The Role
Our Fleet Safety Team will provide first line support to over 2500 professional and vocational drivers across the North, Midlands & South of the UK & Ireland. These vital roles will support the continued development of our LGV, LCV & car driver communities to improve driver safety which shall in turn protect the safety of other road users and members of the public.
The roles will also focus on the continual development of our transportation safety culture, processes and procedures and future innovation and development of the vehicle fleet to ensure Sunbelt remains at the forefront of transportation safety, including taking a leading role in the development, roll out and management of the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme.
This role will be covering the North and Scotland
Key Responsibilities
- To promote a culture of safety first which minimises risk and drives best practice in order to reduce traffic accidents and incidents.
- To support Sunbelt Line Managers who hold responsibility for drivers within a depot, business or a region to ensure the business remains compliant.
- To lead the development and roll out of the Advanced Driver Safety Technology programme, including driver recognition initiatives.
- To use the various technology available to us to identify drivers who can benefit from coaching, guiding or retraining and support the Line Managers where necessary to ensure this occurs in an effective and timely manner.
- To support Line Managers with road traffic accident investigations, following up, and finalising action plans.
- To take the lead on high potential collisions and incidents.
- To form pro-active relationships with key stakeholders (internal & external).
- To encourage Observation reporting and support the business in closeout, sharing lessons learnt and development of best practice.
- To support the region to maintain vehicle legal compliance.
- To undertake periodic gate checks, safety critical control checks and vehicle standard & compliance record inspections.
- To track and report on vehicle and driver safety compliance.
- To support the business and contribute to the overall Engage for Life Strategy.

To succeed as a Fleet Safety Manager you will bring the following skill-set and behaviours :
- Transport / fleet safety or compliance experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of O licence requirements.
- Hold a full driving licence & willingness to travel.
- A background in equipment rental is preferable.
- Ability to work on your own initiative.
- Good communication skills at all levels.
- Flexible and able to quickly change priorities depending on business requirements.
- Methodical approach to problem solving with an eye for detail.
- Computer literate (a working knowledge of Microsoft products and systems).
