JOB TITLE: Product Manager – Cooking Category
REPORTS TO: Senior Product Manager
Purpose of Role
The Product Manager is responsible for executing the agreed strategy for product marketing initiatives, managing product lifecycle, leading product positioning across our house of brands, ensuring that the product meets customer and business needs and aligning sales & marketing efforts to effectively communicate the value propositions of the company's products. This role will work closely with commercial, other marketing teams, supply chain, factories and regional/global counterparts to ensure the successful product launch, promotion and adoption of products, aligning product initiatives with business goals and market opportunities.
Main Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Vision:
- Support defining a clear category vision aligned with business goals.
- Execute the agreed strategy with senior team to achieve defined business objectives delivering the budgeted net sales focussed on profitable growth.
- Develop and execute a long-term product roadmap in line category marketing vision aligned with business goals.
- Create compelling value propositions & positioning that resonates with target customer.
- Manage the full lifecycle of product portfolio ensuring to create exception customer value proposition, generate long-term competitive advantage and deliver healthy financials
- Lead the category management & support the corporate marketing programmes.
- Leverage analytics to track product performance and iterate accordingly.
Sales Enablement:
- Work closely with sales teams to equip them with all the tools to sell the initiatives.
- Develop and deliver presentations in inspire the company on the new products & initiatives.
- Develop bespoke ranges to suit key retailer needs fostering close collaborative relationships.
- Support content generation all product related marketing comms information.
Market, Customer Insights & Feedback:
- Conduct competitor analysis and mkt. research to identify trends, needs & competitor info.
- Constantly monitor competitive analysis to identify opportunities.
- Use insights to inform product development, positioning, and marketing strategies.
- Monitor customer feedback and product reviews to continuously improve strategies.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and technological advancements.
Financials Efficiency:
- Ensuring SKU efficiency for the entire range.
- Conduct value analysis, product cost engineering projects with central & regional HQ teams and factories.
- Deliver consumer needs & benefits driven products and pricing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Maintain a strong relationship and values & behaviours based on our Leadership DNA
- Collaborate with the brand, trade, finance, supply chain, executives, central & regional HQ & UK based sales teams to launch products & programmes effectively & efficiently.
- Maintain a strong, influential & direct link with central & regional HQ teams and factories.
Any other duties as requested by line Manager, Head of Product Marketing and other Executives
Job Specifications
- Degree in Engineering (or Business-related subject)
- Diploma in Marketing (or equivalent)
Experience:
- Proven successful experience in a professional high-energy Product Marketing environment Equivalent to at least 5-years’ breadth and depth of experience
- Thorough understanding of the relevant market and a good understanding of the commercial environment and commercial relationships which can be incorporated into product strategies
- UK market knowledge and cooking category is preferred
Skills set:
- Creativity combined with excellent analytical skills coupled with attention to detail and advanced problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal skills including ability to establish and develop good business relationships
- A good team player – at all levels across the Company
- First class communication (written / spoken) and presentation skills
- A clear understanding of UK consumer behaviour, current and future trends and technologies
- Creativity combined with excellent analytical skills coupled with attention to detail and advanced problem-solving skills
- Good PC skills – esp. MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
