Overview

We are seeking a warm, reliable, and enthusiastic Activities Assistant and Driver to join our team in a varied and rewarding role, making a real difference to the lives of older people in our community. You will be responsible for safely transporting members between their homes and our community centres each morning and afternoon, assisting them on and off the bus and providing a friendly, reassuring welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, reliable and welcoming transport services for older people, supporting their attendance at day services, activities and events.
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard of roadworthiness and cleanliness, liaising with management and approved vehicle agents as required.
  • Assist and support passengers to and from their homes in line with agreed procedures, offering reassurance and a positive journey experience.
  • Support the delivery of a culturally specific Jewish Day Service, including taking part in activities, programmes and events.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to promote safeguarding, wellbeing and an enhanced quality of life for older people.
  • Support members to plan and manage transport arrangements, including Dial-a-Ride, community transport, private hire and public transport.

Requirements

  • D1 Category Driving Licence
  • Midas (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) or willingness to undertake this training.
  • Midas PATS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme – passenger assistance training) or willingness to undertake this training.
  • Experience working with older and/or disabled people in a professional or personal capacity
  • Experience of delivering activities in a similar social care environment.
  • Experience socialising with or talking to older, disabled, or people living with dementia, in a personal or professional capacity
  • Note: for insurance purposes the post holder must be over 22 years old with 3 years\’ driving experience and hold a current clean driving licence.
