Here at Saga, we are looking for a Finance Business Partner. A great opportunity to be joining an exciting division of Saga; the Saga Travel Finance team is looking for a Finance Business Partner.
You will partner the Marketing, Trading and Product teams, developing analysis and analytical financial models to enhance decision making across various marketing and trading activities. You will work to develop marketing insights using models to gain insights into customer propensity to purchase, understand mix of repeat vs FTB (first time buyers), as well as model impact of pricing decisions. The role holder will lead all activities to create, define and implement frameworks for measuring, reporting, analysing, and benchmarking marketing and trading results to optimise trading performance and ensure alignment with our overall business objectives. This is a largely project based role, supporting the business on strategic initiatives and adding a commercial finance perspective to decision-making.
This role will report into the Head of Finance, however, you will work primarily with the Head of Trading and Head of Marketing. Other regular interaction/involvement will be with the CFO, Marketing and Product Directors.
Main Responsibilities
As Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with the business on commercial projects and develop new financial models to support trading and marketing decisions.
- Your first project will involve building LTV (life-time value) models that combine marketing, customer and trading data to understand customer segments and return on marketing investment by activity type. Modelling will need to incorporate the impact of pricing decisions by customer group, product and region, and understand mix of repeat vs FTB (first time buyers).
- Conduct in-depth analysis of marketing activity, pricing movements, and trading volumes to inform strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to develop data-driven strategies and optimise campaigns across digital, print, and direct marketing channels.
- Provide comprehensive reports on marketing costs and revenue, and work with the Data team to build dashboards for stakeholders to track marketing activities and return on investment.
- Support business transformation, cost efficiency programs and investment appraisals.
- Conduct scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner on key projects, preparation of financial business cases, and ensuring alignment with financial targets.
- Ensuring finance is well represented within the business and maintains an outward facing presence.
- Work closely with the FP&A Manager to support with the preparation of bi-monthly forecasts.
The Ideal Candidate
You would have already worked in a Finance Business Partnering role which focused on strategy and commercial finance modelling and analysis. Ideally from a B2C organisation / customer transaction environment. You will also need to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience;
- Fully Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Commercial finance background, experience working with the business, supporting with analysis on marketing and trading performance.
- Some experience in using data management (SQL server, Power BI) to produce analysis from digital data sources.
- Ability to simplify complex problems into understandable insights for marketing and trading leaders and other functions; ability to translate quantitative data into actionable recommendations as well as articulate cause and impact of decisions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to non-financial teams and collaborate with senior management to deliver commercial strategies and drive profitability.
- A natural self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently; ability to manage their time and run with high profile projects.
- Demonstrate advanced Excel skills.
- Experience of Travel / Tour Operations company preferable but not essential.
