Job Title: Chartered Fire Protection Engineer
Contract Length: 12-month contract (ongoing, part-time)
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Fully remote

One of my clients is working on National Grid projects and is looking for a Chartered Fire Protection Engineerto review and sign off designs for water-based fire suppression systems (mainly deluge and sprinkler systems around transformers).
This is a flexible, ad hoc role with work coming in on an irregular basis – ideal for someone freelancing, semi-retired, or working alongside other clients as you can work your own hours to suit you. Most of the workload involves mechanical fire suppression design reviews, with a very small portion (around 5%) covering basic fire alarm systems.

Key Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer status (e.g. IFE, IMechE)
  • Strong background in fire suppression systems (deluge/sprinkler)
  • Comfortable reviewing and verifying designs and issuing compliance certificates
  • Able to work remotely and independently
  • Fire alarm experience helpful but not essential (simple layouts only)

Additional Details:

  • Workload will vary – some weeks busier than others (flexible)
  • Payment can be hourly or per drawing
  • Work is completed remotely using SharePoint
  • Minimal interaction required; mostly design markup and document return
