Job Overview We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to ensure the smooth running, safety, and cleanliness of our school premises. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities * Premises Maintenance: * Carry out minor repairs and maintenance work. * Conduct regular inspections to ensure the school premises are safe and in good condition. * Cleaning & Hygiene: * Maintain the cleanliness of the school premises, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas. * Security: * Open and lock the school premises daily, ensuring the building is secure at all times. * Monitor alarms and arrange necessary repairs or callouts. * Report any security breaches or safety concerns promptly. * Health & Safety: * Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including conducting regular checks (e.g., fire alarms, emergency lighting, and equipment). * Grounds Maintenance: * Maintain outdoor spaces, including playgrounds, gardens, and car parks. * Clear snow, leaves, and debris as needed. * Stock & Supplies Management: * Monitor and replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies. * Record and report any stock shortages to the school office. Key Skills and Experience * Previous experience in a similar caretaking or maintenance role is desirable. * Basic DIY skills for minor repairs and maintenance. * Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices. * Good communication and teamwork skills. Qualifications * A good level of physical fitness to perform manual tasks. * Basic literacy and numeracy skills. * A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
