Job introduction

We are looking for a Children\’s Programme Manager to join our Children\’s, Families and Education team to support the delivery of our ambitious Children\’s Trust Plan and provide vital support for our local response to national reforms in safeguarding and SEND. This is a 12 month fixed term full time role based at the Civic Offices, Portsmouth with some hybrid working depending on business needs.

Your new role

  • To work across Children, Families and Education offering programme management and project management support to managers, teams, services and functions as needed.
  • To work with senior leadership on improvement planning and service development in line with local ambitions and national reforms and legislation.
  • To provide a high-quality monitoring and reporting function for a number of key strategies in the City e.g.:
  1. Safeguarding Strategy
  2. Corporate Parenting Strategy
  3. Youth Justice Strategy
  • To lead on multi-agency quality assurance activity on behalf of the Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Partnership.
  • To lead on other work areas on behalf of the Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Partnership as required.

  • Has experience in programme and project management
  • Has knowledge and understanding of local authority services and functions for children and education
  • Can confidently lead multi-agency workstreams and quality assurance activity.
  • Able to analyse and present data to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Has excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for children, young people, and families.
