Background
This exciting role is central to the Office of the President, contributing to and enabling his responsibilities as the Chief Executive of the University. The role holder also works closely with members of the President’s Senior Leadership Team in developing and delivering City’s strategic objectives. In collaboration with senior colleagues, the role holder will ensure that the President is fully connected with relevant individuals and constituencies inside and outside City and in touch with sector-wide policy and political developments so that the President is able to discharge his responsibilities effectively.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include advising the President on the development of strategic priorities; providing a high-level senior coordinating capacity for the President, including representing the President internally and externally; supporting effective communication across the University; writing speeches, conducting research and preparing other documentation for the President; leading a range of pan-University strategically important projects; and managing the operations and strategic budgets of the Office of the President.
Person Specification
You will have a creative and innovative approach to team working in a senior executive team. You will have relevant leadership and management experience within a university or similar complex organisation, and the ability to work effectively alongside other senior university leaders. You will have an in-depth understanding of policy issues in Higher Education, a flexible approach and a willingness and ability to take on a range of complex tasks and projects on behalf of the President, and the ability to think strategically while balancing several complex agendas. First-class interpersonal and communication skills are required to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment. You will undertake assignments that are highly delicate and demanding, requiring tact and discretion as well as exceptional analytical and presentational skills. You will also need personal credibility and influencing skills to operate beyond personal authority with senior internal and external colleagues.
