Salary Range: from £28,344 to £45,357 (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Contract term: 12 months with a possibility for up to a 12 month extension

About us

The CRUK Scotland Institute where the lab is based is a world leading cancer research institute, situated in the vibrant city of Glasgow in Scotland and hosting approximately 60 postdoctoral researcher scientists at any one time. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.

Project outline

We currently have a position available for a Senior Scientific Officer in our newly formed team, based in Prof Owen Sansom’s laboratory. Our team investigates cell interactions during tumour initiation and regeneration. You will primarily be responsible for collecting and analysing data from in vivo experiments and conducting experiments in vitro using organotypic cultures.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. You will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in cell biology or similar and have some relevant work experience.
  2. Good understanding in basic methods for molecular biology.
  3. Ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with the scientists associated with the project.
  4. Highly motivated with good communication, project management and organisational skills.
  5. Flexible approach to working pattern, including potential weekend work.
