We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our Christchurch, Dorset team!

As an Accounting Manager for our Christchurch location, you will be responsible for all segments of the general accounting function. The ability to look after a small team of professional accounts staff. Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization\’s general ledger and accounting records of the organization. Designs and maintains operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency to ensure that the system of internal and accounting controls is in place and operating effectively. Ensures integrity of data produced into systems and supports objectives of the Business Units and Divisions. Ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and other financial results. Participates in annual audits and special projects.

Your Challenge

  • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers preparing operating and financial statements, reconciling bank statements, and currency conversion as needed.
  • Assists in the development of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting and/or payroll
  • Directs fixed asset control and depreciation, accrual to meet anticipated liabilities, preparation of general tax reports such as those for sales, payroll, and personal property taxes, and payable/receivables
  • Ensures that business activities within the area of responsibility comply with relevant external regulatory and/or voluntary codes and with internal policies and procedures to minimize business risk and to protect the reputation of the organization
  • Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
  • Assists with the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls. Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.

What You Bring

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 5 year post-qualification experience
  • Used to managing a team of qualified or part-qualified accountants
  • Worked in a manufacturing environment and used to accounting for in-house manufacturing
  • Experience in identifying and resolving complex accounting issues and discrepancies.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Deep understanding of relevant accounting regulations, compliance requirements, and internal controls.
  • Proficient in dealing with all levels of an organisation, along with external stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, professional entities such as HMRC, and also representatives of other group companies.
