You will be operating from our dual branded site in Dundee, Hotel Indigo and the Staybridge Suites. The complex comprises of 85 long stay apartments and 102 Boutique hotel rooms with a full-service restaurant called Daisy Tasker and our recently refurbished stylish bar Eighteen22. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
- Manage all financial activities of the hotel, including cost forecasting, and preparation of weekly/monthly reports
- Actively support the General Manager to maintain efficiencies and cost controls
- Support the General Manager and the wider financial team in preparing budgets.
- Collaborate with Department Heads to review manning levels and payroll controls.
- Review weekly purchase orders and approve in line with revenue expectations
- Process weekly/monthly supplier invoices
- Check agent commissions and approve related invoices
- Manage bank deposits and petty cash
- Reconcile credit card transactions and investigate disputes
- Perform month-end closing procedures and reconciliations, including stock count validation
- Complete and review Monthly Management Accounts (P&Ls)
- Analyse budget drivers and provide insightful commentary on variances
- Conduct ad hoc reports and analysis for the General Manager and Department Heads to support business decision.
- Assist in training operational teams on finance systems
- Establish and maintain hotel-specific financial procedures and systems
- Annual audit preparation and coordination
This role is vital in supporting both local management and central finance teams by maintaining accurate financial records and contributing to the overall financial health of the hotel.
What We Need From You
- A degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or relevant experience in a similar finance role is preferred
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices, with experience in maintaining financial records
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data and documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration across departments
- Ability to identify discrepancies or issues within financial data and suggest appropriate solutions
- Awareness of the importance of confidentiality when managing sensitive financial information
