About the role
We have a brand-new opportunity for a Senior Vertical Transportation Engineer to join our brilliant VT team. We’re looking for someone with a few years of experience, working at a senior level and within multi-disciplinary design teams, who’s looking for the next step in their career. We’re offering exciting project opportunities across all sector and scales, with the support to help you reach your potential.
You’ll be providing lift, escalator and moving walk expertise to ensure the efficient movement of people in buildings using the best traditional and modern technologies for new, refurbished and occupied premises. As modern buildings and their uses become ever more demanding, the design becomes an increasingly challenging process. Our efficient Vertical Transportation designs provide the ideal solutions for complex projects.
We look at the building as a whole and are involved in every stage, from initial client discussions right through to construction and even the building’s ongoing performance. We collaborate with colleagues, architects and other construction professionals, playing a critical role in every building’s design.
As a member of the Vertical Transportation group, your day-to-day tasks will vary, as we’ll give you the chance to get involved in all aspects of our work.
In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
- Be in a Client-facing role, attending project meetings and disseminating the brief within the project team. You will need to be of personable nature and a good communicator.
- Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
- Produce detailed designs and drawings using the latest computer modelling software and carry out traffic simulations.
- Define Vertical Transportation strategies for new or existing building developments to allow efficient transport of occupiers.
- Take responsibility for technical delivery in your work either alone or as part of a team.
- Engage with junior support staff in their day-to-day activities and offer advice and guidance.
- Be financially astute and work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- A few years of VT consultancy experience in some or all of the following: VT Design & Specification, Lift Traffic Studies, tender analysis and drawing reviews. (Site survey and commissioning experience would be an advantage but is not a requirement as training can be provided).
- Strong technical knowledge of lifts, escalators and moving walks and relevant and applicable codes, regulations, design guides etc.
- Understanding of VT design, engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.
- IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages (Elevate, Revit, etc.).
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Developing effective client and fellow professional relationships.
- Showing commitment to personal and continuing professional development.
Working alongside a range of specialists, you will be joining a collaborative, knowledgeable, highly engaged team who love what they do, and offer a supportive, flexible, and high performing work culture.
