Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Executive Creative Director of Writing will be a pivotal strategic role responsible for defining, developing, and elevating Starling Bank’s creative writing approach across all communication channels. This role combines leadership of the internal creative team, strategic guidance of external agencies, and a critical mandate to build and enhance the bank’s writing capabilities.
Requirements
Creative Leadership and Strategy
- Develop and maintain a distinctive, consistent, and compelling tone of voice that reflects Starling Bank’s brand personality and strategic objectives
- Lead the internal creative writing team, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and creative inspiration
- Establish and maintain high creative standards across all written communication channels
Team Development and Capability Building
- Build and nurture an internal creative writing team with exceptional skills and potential
- Design and implement comprehensive writing training and development programs
- Create frameworks and guidelines that enable consistent, high-quality writing across the organisation
- Mentor team members to develop their creative and strategic writing capabilities
Multi-Channel Communication Strategy
- Oversee writing strategy for all customer-facing and internal communication channels
- Ensure brand consistency across digital platforms, print materials, social media, customer communications, marketing collateral, and internal documentation
- Collaborate with marketing, product, customer experience, and communications teams to align writing approaches
Agency Collaboration and Management
- Manage and direct external creative agencies, providing clear strategic briefs and creative direction
- Evaluate agency work against Starling Bank’s creative standards and brand guidelines
- Develop strong collaborative relationships with creative partners to drive innovative writing solutions
Brand Voice and Content Innovation
- Continuously evolve and refine Starling Bank’s unique writing style and tone
- Drive creative innovation in written communication
- Monitor industry trends and emerging communication techniques
- Develop experimental and cutting-edge content approaches that differentiate Starling Bank
