Are you a highly motivated, experienced Physiotherapist , looking for a new challenge?

If so, MSK are looking for someone who possesses confidence, enthusiasm, initiative and a positive approach to teamwork but most importantly have a genuine passion for patient care.

We would like to appoint an experienced Physiotherapist on a secondment for 9 months to develop specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare autonomously to patients in their speciality, with support from an experienced team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

The APP will gain skills under direction to undertake clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

The post holder as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) will assess, investigate, and manage complex patients referred to the MSK Triage Service .

Work will include triage referrals to the MSK Triage Hub to the Musculoskeletal Clinical Assessment and Triage Service (MCATS), MSK rehabilitation, pain services, podiatry or orthopaedic and rheumatology secondary care services, in line with evidence-based, local, and national pathways, ensuring the optimal management of each patient from receipt of referral. The APP is accountable for independent clinical assessment, formulation, diagnosis and treatment of these individuals with undiagnosed and undifferentiated conditions. They will provide expert professional and independent clinical care which enables the coordination of a multi professional seamless service.

The APP will work with the ACPs and fellow APPs, Clinical Lead and Head of MSK to develop the service in line with national/local criteria and initiatives to meet the needs of the local population.

They will provide expert professional and independent clinical care which enables the coordination of a multi professional seamless service.

Practise in compliance with respective code of professional conduct and within scope of practice, being responsible and accountable for their decisions, actions and omissions.

Demonstrate a critical understanding of their broadened level of responsibility and autonomy and the limits of own competence and professional scope of practice, including when working with complexity, risk, uncertainty and incomplete information.

Act on professional judgement about when to seek help, demonstrating critical reflection on own practice, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and openness to change.

Work in partnership with individuals, families and carers, using a range of assessment methods (e.g. of history-taking; holistic assessment)

Demonstrate effective communication skills supporting people in making decisions, planning care or seeking to make positive changes, through person-centred approaches in health and care

Use expertise and decision-making skills to inform clinical reasoning approaches when dealing with differentiated and undifferentiated individual presentations and complex situations, synthesising information from multiple sources to make appropriate, evidence-based judgements and/or diagnoses.

Initiate, evaluate and modify a range of interventions which may include therapies, lifestyle advice and care.

Work collaboratively with an appropriate range of multi-agency and inter-professional resources, developing, maintaining and evaluating links to manage risk and issues across organisations and settings.

Act as a clinical role model/advocate for developing and delivering care that is responsive to changing requirements, informed by an understanding of local population health needs, agencies and networks.

Evidence the underpinning subject-specific competencies i.e. knowledge, skills and behaviours relevant to the role setting and scope, and demonstrate application of the capabilities to these, in an approach that is appropriate to the individual role, setting and scope.
