THE GIG
The Employee Relations (ER) Case Manager is responsible for managing complex employee relations cases, providing expert guidance on workplace issues, and ensuring fair and consistent application of Dr. Martens policies and employment law. We are hiring for this role on a 12 Month Fixed Term basis.
This role plays a key part in fostering a positive and compliant workplace culture by resolving disputes, mitigating risk, and supporting managers in handling employee concerns effectively.

We are considering this role on a full time basis, but very open to part time applications also. (Please state your preference on your application)
As our ER Case Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing a caseload of ER cases, including disciplinary matters, grievances, absence management, and performance.
- Providing expert advice to managers and employees on ER policies, best practice and employment legislation.
- Supporting thorough and impartial investigations into workplace concerns, ensuring fair and consistent resolutions.
- Supporting early dispute resolution through coaching, mediation, and problem-solving strategies.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential case records, ensuring compliance with legal and internal reporting requirements.
- Partnering with managers to develop their ER capability, equipping them to handle people matters confidently.
- Collaborating with HR Business Partners and Legal teams to ensure alignment on ER strategies and risk management.
- Ensuring ER policies and procedures are applied consistently and in line with employment law and company values.
- Identifying trends in ER cases and provide insights to HR leadership to support continuous improvement, providing recommendations for process improvements based on case trends and root cause analysis.
- Contributing to initiatives that enhance workplace culture, employee engagement, and proactive ER management.

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:
- Significant experience managing ER cases, including disciplinary, grievance, and performance related issues.
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and best practices.
- Knowledge and/or experience of EU employment law and best practices would be desirable.
- Proven ability to conduct investigations and resolve workplace disputes effectively.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to coach and support managers.
- Experience working with HR case management systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Mediation or conflict resolution training/certification is desirable.
