We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Specialty Doctor to join our Adult Mental Health Acute Admissions team on Juniper Ward at Parklands Hospital, Basingstoke. This is a full-time position 10 PAs offering a unique opportunity to contribute to high-quality care within a dynamic, supportive multi-disciplinary team.
Juniper Ward is an 18-bed male inpatient unit and part of the wider Acute Care Pathway, alongside Cherry Ward a 18 bedded female ward, a 6 bed MoD Unit, a 10 bed PICU Hazel Ward, and the Crisis and Home Treatment Team.
You will be joining a well-established medical team comprising 7 consultants, 3 middle-grade doctors, and 7 junior doctors, with additional support from FY and CT trainees and, at times, higher trainees or fellow specialty doctors. Leadership is robust, with dedicated Band 7 and 8A ward and pathway managers ensuring cohesive service delivery.
This post offers excellent experience in acute psychiatry and the chance to work in a richly diverse MDT environment including psychologists, nurses, OTs, social workers, pharmacists, and more.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake timely administrative duties related to patient care.
- Accurately and comprehensively record clinical activity.
- Contribute to service and business planning where appropriate.
- Participate in annual appraisals and job plan reviews, aligning with service developments.
- Attend the Trust\’s academic programme, including lectures/seminars for internal CPD.
- Maintain GMC registration, Section 12(2) approval (and AC approval if held), and adhere to professional codes of conduct.
- Work collaboratively with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Supervise, appraise, and support junior doctors, in line with Trust policies and the Medical Careers framework.
- Ensure junior staff operate within New Deal and Working Time Directive guidelines.
- Comply with Trust policies, procedures, standing orders, and financial instructions. Where appropriate, contribute to service financial planning and support the Medical Director and managers in service development initiatives.
