Job Description
We are currently looking for a Junior Quantitative Analyst to join our Actuarial team here at Transact!
The role will see you taking responsibility for automating manual processes, creating financial models and providing support with data analysis on business problems.
You will be working closely and collaboratively with colleagues from across the business including Finance, Business Intelligence and Risk Management. Over time you will have the opportunity to contribute to wider business initiatives and management reporting.
About the role:
On a day-to-day basis you will have the opportunity to get involved in the following:
- Gathering and understanding business requirements for data analyses
- Specifying data extract requirements from our database
- Carrying out checks on the data extracts, and manipulating data into the right format for analyses
- Creating and testing actuarial and data science models
- Assisting with communication of results through written reports and data visualisation
- Producing documentation of work carried out
- Replicating existing business processes using Python
- Spreading Python coding knowledge within the Actuarial department
- Assisting with actuarial valuation processes and model improvements
About you:
The successful candidate will have either a quantitative based degree or a minimum of 1 year of experience working with Python. Excel modelling skills are essential, along with Python fundamentals and basic statistical methods. You should have a strong understanding of how to manage data science projects, including version control with GitHub. It would be beneficial to have actuarial and financial services knowledge, however this is not essential, and working towards an actuarial qualification is not a requirement for this role. It is also desirable but not essential to have experience with big data technologies, such as SQL or Apache Spark, alongside experience in data visualisation utilising PowerBI.
Due to the nature of the role you must be analytical and intellectual and have excellent attention to detail. We are also looking for someone with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines whilst being proactive and capable of working autonomously.
