At Swift Referrals and Emergencies we are a seeking a passionate and ambitious individual to join our team of Hospital Clinicians.
As a Hospital Clinician at Swift, you will be integral in supporting our Referral Clinicians with complex investigations and inpatient care, across our multidisciplinary services – Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Advanced Imaging. You will play a key role in running our first-opinion out of hours service, with an interesting and diverse mix of first-opinion emergency consultations, diagnostics and surgery, supported by our team of experienced and talented nurses and animal care assistants. From patient admission to discharge, you will provide the highest standard of care to all patients, with a variety of presentations.
Your responsibilities will encompass in-patient and critical care, owner communications and support, consulting, participation in clinical rounds, anaesthesia, performing advanced imaging and being involved in referral procedures such as soft-tissue, neurological and orthopaedic surgeries, and endoscopies. Therefore, flexibility is vital, to work collaboratively across all disciplines with our large team of dedicated and talented veterinary professionals.
About Us
Swift Referrals and Emergencies is a specialist-led referral and emergency hospital located on the outskirts of Wetherby in West Yorkshire, which offers an ideal place to explore more rurally, with easy access to nearby cities York and Leeds.
You would become part of our large team of dedicated and talented veterinary professionals, including: our referral clinicians, which are led by two European Specialists; hospital clinicians who support our referral departments and run our out-of-hours service; nursing and ACA teams who provide high-quality care to our patients; and our client care team, who provide our clients with the best service.
We have a purpose-built intensive care unit, inside our emergency hospital, which houses all of the emergency equipment you would need including oxygen kennels, ICU bays and cots, a defibrillator and blood products. We also have extensive in-house laboratory facilities with tests such as blood gas, CSF cytospin, CRP and cortisol testing and coagulation profiles. Our diagnostic equipment includes a 1.5T siemens MRI scanner, 128 slice GE CT scanner, doppler ultrasound and endoscopy.

Working Hours
This full-time position is based on a 4-day work-week, averaging 40 hours per week. Shifts vary between 7: 00 am and 8:00 pm, and include 4 11 hour shifts. The role includes a 1:4 weekend rota, compensated by time off in lieu. While we have a dedicated out-of-hours team, occasional night shifts may be required to support them and are shared amongst the team.
