This post is for a 12 month position with Paediatrics, suitable for a ST4-8 level doctor who wishes to gain some experience within our division or a resident doctor who wishes to gain more experience prior to application for specialist training.
The post-holder will work as part of the team, with rotation between consultant teams to allow for a spread of experience. Whilst the needs of the service are paramount, individual training needs are taken into account in the job plans.
Although this is LAS post and not a Deanery training post, applicants will be encouraged to gain postgraduate qualifications in Paediatrics or General Practice, and continuing professional development is encouraged. Support with studying will be given to appropriate appointees.
- In-patient care and ward rounds (General Paediatrics & Level 1 SCBU)
- Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) cover
- Out-patient clinics (with a specialist slant as appropriate)
- Participation in the Paediatric night on-call rota (full shift) (1 in 7)
- Covering absences (depending upon experience)
- Teaching and education of junior medical and other staff
- Audit /Quality improvement / Service development work
