We are looking for a Data & Reporting Scientist to join the Engineering team on a permanent basis.

About the role:

You will be responsible for provision of Data Analysis as a service across the amplify alliance. You will be responsible for all data management and analysis requirements to support the delivery of the c.£3bn AMP8 capital programme, in line with the scope of service agreed with the requestor of the data service.

The Data and Reporting Scientist will be responsible for developing and implementing a data-driven in-house planning system that enhances operational efficiency and supports strategic decision-making. This role involves analysing complex data sets, creating insightful reports, and collaborating with engineering teams to optimise processes and improve project outcomes.

What you\’ll be doing:

  • You will support the integration and set-up of the Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) planning tool to support the tracking of programme delivery

  • You will manage & collect data from internal systems, databases, and external sources as needed for data management purposes.
  • You will analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, and extracting actionable insights to support decision-making.
  • You are responsible for compiling and formatting data into clear and concise data sets using appropriate software packages
  • You are responsible for ensuing all data outputs meet deadlines for the submission of internal and regulatory reports, ensuring that all deliverables are completed on time.
  • You will deliver data as a service to the requesting individual, collating, cleansing and analysing data and presenting the outputs in a way to facilitate understanding and interpretation by stakeholders.
  • You will develop and implement innovative data management and analysis techniques including machine learning, application development and coding.
  • You will conduct quality checks on reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of information.
  • You will actively collaborate with the requesting team to ensure the scope is understood and that the outputs are in line with expectations.
  • You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to identifying opportunities to improve data processes, streamline data collection and analysis, and enhance the overall effectiveness of data outputs.
  • You will be responsible for the management of a small analyst team who will support you in the delivery of your responsibilities.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience in advanced data analysis and interpretation techniques, including the coding, application development and data set optimisation.
  • Experience producing data outputs that adhere to regulatory guidelines and standards
  • Experience in data management and analysis packages and coding languages commonly used in the industry
  • Experience managing data projects or initiatives, including coordinating tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards
  • Previous experience of working in a water company desirable
  • Strong analytical skills, statistical methods, data manipulation, and problem-solving.
  • Highly organised and can plan, track, deliver and evaluate work to defined deadlines
  • Ability to communicate complex information in an easy to access format – distilling key insights from vast inputs.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills and ability to adapt communication style to suit the audience.
