Purpose of the Role
This exciting new hybrid opportunity has arisen to join our Financial Reporting Team reporting to the Finance Manager. You will support the preparation of monthly management accounts, consisting of the profit and loss and balance sheets in addition to the preparation of information for statutory accounts, audits and forecasting in line with the Group financial control framework and Group reporting timetable.
This role will require 2 or 3 days per week in the office in Bury St Edmunds.
What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your line manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following:
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts including profit and loss account, balance sheet and supporting commentary.
- Support the preparation of monthly KPIs which complement the management accounts.
- Support the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations with supporting commentary for review by the Finance Manager.
- Post monthly journals as required by the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Manager.
- Support the reconciliation of intercompany balances on a monthly basis and the resolution of any variances.
- Support the preparation of year-end and interim audit files and liaison with external auditors.
- Fulfil your responsibilities in line with agreed processes to achieve agreed objectives and in doing so ensure compliance with the client and insurer money rules within the FCA Handbook.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education – A-Levels or equivalent
- Microsoft Excel – Skills to an advanced level
- Professional Certification – Part qualified AAT/ACA/ACCA/CIMA or QBE
- Knowledge of CASS, IFRS, UK GAAP
- Strong knowledge of internal financial controls
- Strong understanding of Chart of Accounts and cost centre structure
