Job Description
We're looking for an inspiring leader to join us as Head of Coventry City Partnership – a vital and collaborative role at the heart of our Strategic Energy Partnership with Coventry City Council.
Head of Coventry City Partnership
Here's what you'll be doing
As a senior member of both the EIS UK and E.ON UK Leadership Teams, you will take a leading role in delivering the Coventry Strategic Energy Plan, building a greener, healthier, and more inclusive city through clean local energy, innovation, job creation, and community benefit.
This is a high-profile leadership role that goes beyond strategy. You will shape the commercial vision for Coventry's energy future, steer delivery of complex infrastructure projects, and engage senior stakeholders across government, industry, and local communities. To succeed, you'll need to bring board-level experience, strong commercial acumen, and a pragmatic, visionary approach to delivering long-term decarbonisation with real local impact.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Delivering on Strategic Goals:
- Clean Local Energy – Increase locally generated green energy, reduce market exposure, and position Coventry as a sustainable, investable city.
- Jobs and Skills – Grow the local energy job market, promote green jobs, strengthen the supply chain, and champion ED&I principles.
- Innovation & Scale – Manage scalable innovation projects, test new technologies, and support Coventry's circular economy.
- Community Benefit – Reduce fuel poverty, support local communities, and collaborate with NGOs and local organisations.
- Leadership & Collaboration:
- Work with the Strategic Energy Partnership team and the Coventry Joint Venture Board to ensure strong, effective governance and collaboration.
- Operate as a key leader across E.ON's UK businesses to integrate commercial, operational, and technical solutions that meet the city's long-term energy needs.
- Engage confidently with senior stakeholders, including council leaders, government officials, and business CEOs.
- Strategic Delivery:
- Shape and prioritise investment in city-wide energy projects, informed by insight and data.
- Collaborate with teams across Finance, Energy Policy, Public Affairs, PR, Sales, and Operations to ensure successful delivery and measurable impact.
What we need from you
- A collaborative and strategic mindset, with experience leading strategic energy partnerships with cities or anchor institutions, ideally with strong network and connections in public authorities.
- Strong track record in relationship-building and developing market strategies across energy services and net zero-focused solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver complex projects and programmes on time and within budget, through effective internal and external collaboration.
- Leadership experience in fast-paced, dynamic environments, managing shifting priorities with confidence and agility.
- Experience overseeing a diverse portfolio of energy projects or contracts, balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
Here's what you need to know
- Award-Winning Benefits: Our market-leading benefits package includes 26 days of holiday plus bank holidays, a generous pension scheme, life cover, bonus opportunities, and access to 20 flexible benefits with tax and/or NI savings. Recognised with the Personnel Today Reward, Recognition and Benefits Award 2022, our benefits truly stand out.
