Sheffield is on a mission yo transform the way we travel and we are looking for an enthusiastic STARS School Engagement Officer to join us in encouraging schools to create greener, healthier and more active travel habits. About the Role : As the STARS School Engagement Officer, you'll play a vital role in increasing the number of schools across Sheffield actively delivering school travel plans and achieving Modeshift STARS accreditation. This is your chance to empower schools, students and families to embrace sustainable journeys and reduce their environmental footprint. You'll work hands-on with Sheffield schools, providing tailored support to promote, encourage and enable active travel options like walking, cycling and scooting. Beyond schools, you'll act as an ambassador for the Modeshift STARS programme, forging partnerships with local authorities and external stakeholders to build a network of champions for sustainable travel. Key Responsibilities : * Engage with schools across Sheffield, supporting them to implement effective school travel plans. * Promote sustainable and active travel initiatives, encouraging walking, cycling and other eco-friendly transport options for school journeys. * Drive participation in the Modeshift STARS accreditation scheme, helping schools achieve recognition for their efforts. * Build and maintain strong relationships with school staff, local authority contacts and external stakeholders to gain support for the programme. * Organise events, workshops and campaigns to raise awareness and inspire behaviour change. * Monitor progress and celebrate successes, ensuring schools stay motivated and on track. What we're Looking For : We're seeking a dynamic and motivated individual with : * A passion for sustainability and active travel. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with schools, students and stakeholders. * Strong organisational skills to manage multiple schools and projects effectively. * The ability to inspire and motivate others to embrace change. * Knowledge or experience in sustainable transport, education or community engagement (preferred).
