Job Description

Maintenance Engineer\\nLocation: Portsmouth\\nHours: 37 hours per week\\n\\nAre you an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a role that offers variety, stability, and the chance to work on a wide range of equipment? We’re looking for a skilled engineer to join our team and support the maintenance and repair of essential plant and machinery in Portsmouth Naval Base.\\n\\n What you’ll be doing You’ll carry out both planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse mix of equipment, including:\\n\\nForklift trucks and cranes\\n\\nTrailers and portable generators\\n\\nTelehandlers and tow trucks\\n\\nYour day-to-day will involve:\\n\\nFault finding, repair, and testing of mechanical systems and machinery\\n\\nEnsuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard\\n\\nUsing mobile technology to manage and update work tasks\\n\\nBuilding strong relationships with colleagues and customers, ensuring their needs are met\\n\\nTaking part in an on-call rota to provide additional support when required\\n\\nThis is a role where you’ll be trusted to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team, with the scope to use your initiative and problem-solving skills daily.\\n\\n What we’re looking for We’d love to hear from you if you have:\\n\\nA recognised mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience\\n\\nProven experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally on plant and equipment such as FLTs and cranes\\n\\nStrong fault-finding skills with the ability to provide clear and accurate reports\\n\\nA good understanding of safe systems of work and health & safety best practice\\n\\nIT literacy and confidence using mobile technology\\n\\nA proactive, flexible approach with a “can-do” attitude\\n\\nIndustry qualifications such as NVQ or City & Guilds would be an advantage, but equivalent experience will be considered.\\n\\n What’s in it for you?
