Job Description
z/OS Systems Programmer – Mainframe (Fully Remote, UK-Based) – Up to £700 a day
We are looking for a highly experienced z/OS Systems Programmer to join a contract assignment supporting enterprise-scale IBM Mainframe infrastructure.
You'll be responsible for the installation, customization, maintenance, and troubleshooting of z/OS and related IBM products in a complex, high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities

Install, upgrade, and maintain z/OS and related subsystems (eg, JES2, SMP/E, RACF, TSO, USS).

Maintain and support IBM Middleware products (eg, DB2, CICS, MQ Series, IMS – if required).

Manage IPLs, parmlib concatenations, SMF, SDSF, and ISPF customizations.

Handle storage management (DFSMS, HSM, tape libraries) and performance tuning.

Assist with disaster recovery testing, capacity planning, and patch cycles.

Provide 3rd-line support and mentor junior system engineers where needed.
Experience

5+ years' hands-on experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer in a production environment.

Deep knowledge of IBM Mainframe architecture and utilities.

Strong experience with SMP/E, JES2, parmlib, HCD, and z/OSMF.
