WHAT TO EXPECT
We are recruiting a manufacturing or production professional as a Quality Manufacturing Engineer to provide engineering and technical support to the Operations team at our Engine Manufacturing centre in Wolverhampton.
You will help to develop process improvements, analyse quality issues, understand tooling properties, coordinate technical change and liaise between departments to correctly identify the root cause of an issue and then install a robust countermeasure to ensure the same issue does not occur again. You would need to be able to understand the tools of problem solving and drive resolution.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop within the role as the machining capabilities grow and mature. This is a key position within the machining team and the scope of work will be varied and demanding.
- Be the primary interface for the Head/Block or Crank team in the resolution of issues derived from tool, process or assembly failures.
- Defining and delivery of the optimised tooling used to generate the product design
- Introducing innovative new technologies into our manufacturing processes to improve safety, productivity, quality & cost metrics
- Scrap analysis and implementation of plans to reduce scrap year on year.
- Dealing with customer Issues & Non-Conformance.
- Supporting daily production issues to help achieve operational metrics
- Be the driver of accurate problem solving within machining, drive the teams to follow the standard problem-solving techniques and be able to challenge the teams openly, with integrity, to drive continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills you'll need to have to help you succeed here, including:
- Knowledge of high-precision machining processes (particularly milling, drilling, reaming, boring, honing etc) is essential and proven experience of facility installation; commissioning and launch would be highly desirable.
- An individual with the capability to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with medium term planning.
- A resilient and enthusiastic individual who responds constructively to new ideas and inputs.
- A good communicator with the ability to communicate complex ideas.
- An effective team player, actively develops and supports team members.
- Good problem-solving skills and an ability to work with multiple sets of data simultaneously.
